Independence War (I-War in Europe/UK) is a hard-core, military, linear Newtonian-based flight simulator with a gripping story, detailed controls and brutal difficulty. It's been lauded for its physics model, starship control model (you control a capital ship, not a fighter) and engaging story. It's also one of my all-time favorite games.
Concept
In the far future, the Earth-based Commonwealth has been in a civil war for fifty years. Five years after a massive battle that killed one of the game's main characters, you take command of their former ship and go through a story that has you diving further unto this civil war than you ever imagined.
