Hello friends, and welcome to my continuing coverage of TIE Fighter! In this installment, we fly the TIE Advanced on a mission to further cripple the treacherous Admiral Zaarin. Then, we find that a plot is unfolding in which the Emperor is in danger! In the next mission, Darth Vader himself joins me for our first mission in a TIE Defender (one of my favorite fighters in any space game ever) in order to make our way back to Coruscant and defend the Emperor’s life. Join me as I fly through these two missions:
Tour of Duty VII: Treachery at Ottega – Mission 3: Retribution
Tour of Duty VII: Treachery at Ottega – Mission 4: TIE Defender
I hope you enjoy these missions, and thank you for watching. :)
What is it that you like about the tie defender and the dragon? Is it just the power, or is there something else?
The power, the look, the feel as one flies them, you just feel like an unstoppable bad-ass. I also love their designs too, especially the Dragon with its cloaking device and jump drive. Overall, though, there’s just something about how the click with me when I fly them. More than any other fighters in any other games, I felt like they were an extension of me, if that makes sense, rather than just a craft I was flying, you know?
Hmm, 3rd mission was tough as hell for me for some reason. I still remember it vividly, although almost 20 years has past since! I was not able to trash CRL before it starts firing on INT (and then B-wing will finish it off) until i equipped heavy rockets. And after that, if i start attacking Protector – it starts firing adv missiles at me. two hits and i’m a history. So i had to rearm, fly to a point at 5k from Protector and start flying toward it switching everything to engines. I had to be at top possible speed, cause it was the only way my rockets can hit both his missile launchers and not get intercepted.
