When I started this blog, a good friend of mine, Brian Hook, asked me to do a Let’s Play video of Rules of Engagement 2. I had never done one before, was a smidge nervous about it, and didn’t think I had the hardware at the time to handle it, so I figured I’d do it once I got to the game in its chronological order.
Welp, now that Brian is being kind enough to send me his copy of RoE2, I figured I’d return the favor by doing the Let’s Play vids a little early. Having never done one before, however, I decided to test it out on Endless Space, since they just had a content pack update. What follows is 40 minutes of my rambling about 50 turns into the game. Since this is my first Let’s Play video ever, I’m asking y’all to be gentle with me, but also honest. If you have ideas on how I could do this better, for example, don’t hesitate to share ’em. ;) With that, I present to you my first Let’s Play video. Enjoy!
That’s awesome, Brian. I saw that you were playing last night. I look forward to watching it on my lunch break today.
Sweet, thanks man. Please let me know how you like it and if there’s anything I can do to make it better.
Talking and playing at the same time is really, really difficult. My biggest suggestion: do it 100 more times.
Well, I wanna do more of them, and the thing I found most difficult was remembering to talk at all. ;-) Anything else?
You may want to reduce the music volume a bit. On loud portions, it can be hard to hear you speak clearly because of it.
Additionally, all the best LPers I know do a quick dry run to familiarize themselves with what they’ll encounter at startup of a game before recording a session. They’ll keep notes handy of what they’ll need to explain to the audience, and points they wish to cover during the LP generally. The only exceptions seem to be blind LPs and LPs where the commentator plays the tutorial to start.
Welcome to the blog, MyChemicalCrash, and thanks so much for the very awesome advice. :)
