Go Little Runabout Go!

Happy hump day y’all! One day closer to what looks to be a very busy weekend, and a new video for y’all today! In today’s Star Merchant video…I actually won a game. That is so rare for me. ;) It was actually nice though, and immediately made me want to load up another game with longer, more difficult goals, which says a lot about how fun this unassuming little game is.

Last night’s podcast was a ton of fun to record. We waxed and waned about dozens of flight sims old and new, and it was really fun to talk about our love of the genre. It also kinda made me sad to realize just how much I miss the sims of the 90s, which balanced fidelity with playability way, way better than they do now.

After the podcast, I finished Titanfall 2’s single player campaign. Holy crap was that amazing. I cried, I totally did. I also watched the entire end credits, thinking there’d be an after-credit scene. There totally was, and it was totally predictable, but it was totally awesome anyway so I don’t care how predictable it was. Bring on Titanfall 3! Or more story DLC, I’d be fine with that too. After I recovered from the emotional gut punch of the single player story, I decided to try multiplayer, finally. After customizing my pilot and titan using some tips from Quarter to Three’s geggis, I jumped into two Attrition matches (which is where the matchmaking sent me).

Multiplayer Titanfall 2 was a ton of fun! Seriously! I died a lot, sure, but I also got in a titan kill, a couple of player kills and many AI grunt kills. I usually couldn’t give one whit about multiplayer games like this, but something about this and Eternal Crusade’s setting, violence and so on make me just wanna play more, which is unusual for me.

After taking a break from Titanfall 2, I tried a couple of cheap platformers I picked up yesterday. Spaceport Hope is a fun time, with responsive controls and quick gameplay. It’s not bad for $0.49, but I’m not sure if it’s gonna keep me engaged forever. Molemen Must Die!, on the other hand, is a fantastic exercise in both chaos and control. You’re to escort a massive bomb down toward the center of the Earth in a plot of revenge from your president. As its protector, you must stop molemen from latching onto and destroying the bomb, all the while falling downward tactically along with it. It’s a mix of shooting, jumping and falling that is really fun and SUPER violent. You also get random powerups each attempt, and the gunplay is a joy. Bouncing explosive bullets? More please! DEFINITELY gonna keep playing this one.

Not sure if I’ll get any gaming in tonight, sadly, but if I do, it’ll likely be some Mechwarrior: Living Legends toying about, plus some more Titanfall 2. I’m really looking forward to this weekend wherein I’ll be playing next week’s game of the week, Renegade: Battle for Jacob’s Star. If I recall, it wasn’t very good, so we’ll see how it holds up, or doesn’t!

Slow news day again today, the best thing is this fun article about various Wing Commander cover art. For those of you that care about GOG, their fantastic Galaxy Client has left beta, and adds things like cloud save backups, bandwidth limiters and more. I hope they add cloud saving for TIE Fighter and Freespace 2 soon. I am so tired of backing up my pilots manually.

That should do it for today! Thanks y’all, have a great one!
