The second cool bit of news — and they let me have this as an exclusive, yay! — is that their first live appearance will be on March 15th at MegaCon in Orlando. That same day they’ll be launching a Kickstarter for their game, and they’ll have an “Early Bird Special” limited reward tier where you can get the game in its entirety for one freaking dollar. I’ve never seen a gaming Kickstarter that offered the GAME for $1, so I think that’s pretty dang cool. :) I figured that was cool enough to get its own post. ;) Again, happy new year folks, and I’ll keep you posted on more developments regarding this. :) Have an awesome day!
GAME STUDIO’S LAUNCH OF ‘SCIENCE BEHIND THE SCI-FI’ PANEL
York, PA – 01/01/2013 – Get in on the ground floor of a new community that lets you aid in the development of a science-fiction game. Broken Crown Games development studio is excited to announce the launch of their ‘Science Behind the Sci-Fi’ panel to kick off their new science &gaming community.
What is the ‘Science Behind the Sci-Fi’ Panel?
This panel is a unique chance for gamers and scientists alike to get a behind-the-scenes glance on a games development by following PhDs scientist consultants as they discuss the science from their respective fields that will be translated into the final game content.
Who are the Scientists Behind the Science?
The panel consists of fourfeatured scientists in fields related to the science-fiction found in Escaping Titan. The panelists are:
Thesefour will rotate each week, putting out a post for the first four weeks of each month. Also, due to overwhelming response from the science community when the Broken Crown Games studio made their call for panelist submissions, the team now also plans to feature a guest’s content each month as well – for a total of 5 posts a month.
Why should you care?
The Broken Crown team is looking for community input; giving community members a rare chance to speak directly to a games development team, and have their ideas shape a game! To accommodate and even encourage community participation, the studio decided to launch the ‘Science Behind the Sci-Fi’ panel on forums rather than on their original idea of running blogs, which would restrict the flow of new topics and ideas. – MORE –
Why the Science Focus?
The mission of our company (aside from making exciting games) is to spread the word about STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education. We chose video games because of their broad appeal, and their ability to capture minds and imaginations. Imagination is a large part of these fields, and we hope to showcase the wonder that can be found in the realizing people are making the impossible possible. We feel that message is not only important in order to popularize science with the public, but also for reminding many scientists where their research can take them!
Care to Learn More?
We are an indie team that is passionate about what we are doing, and always willing to talk! For those of you interested in sharing your space ideas, or just have STEM related questions, feel free to join the discussion by checking us out at:
