Multiplayer X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter: Success, and So Much Fun!

This past Friday night, I (Veloxi) got together with Jim (aszurom), Nate (Irridium884) and Eric (EMB) to have a bout of multiplayer X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter using GameRanger. I have to admit, I had a freaking blast. We started with a simple free for all and then went into the more detailed missions and battles, and MY GOD was it fun. I feel like I’ve short-shrifted this game for years now, and now owe it an apology (when I got it, my Internet connection stunk, nor did I know anyone to play it with, so I sadly wrote it off). ;) This game just has TONS to offer, especially with the Balance of Power add-on. We had so much fun with this we’re looking to make it a regular thing once I move, but for now, please enjoy the three part stream capture I did on Twitch from the other night. :)

  1. I wish I could have been there. I almost got back in time, but for some reason I can’t seem to get XvT to install on Win7.

    1. Aawwww, dude, someone made this awesome installer thingy that makes it install on Win7 just fine. Here’s the page and here’s a link to the installer directly. This is what I used on Win7 64 bit and it worked perfectly.

  2. I tried that, and it wouldn’t work because I’ve only got XvT, not Balance of Power. So I tried the “maybe you don’t trust us…” link that led to the original script, but it has some prerequisites. The first one is the Windows Installer 3.1 Redistributable, which falls over on my machine claiming it’s out of memory (with 8 gig of ram and nothing else running…).

Dunno. I’m starting to wonder if I need to build a new machine.
